One out of four people in this country is mentally unbalanced. Think of your three closest friends; if they seem OK, then you’re the one.
So said Ann Landers. Well, I spent all day drawing fish. (I wonder what group that puts me in??) At least I can say that I’m very happy.
I’m definitely the one – thanks for starting my day with a giggle – and with a stunning Koi picture.
Is this mixed media? A few fish near the bottom of the image look as if you used pastels. It’s delightful.
June,
I’m drawing this using Caran d’ache water soluble crayons. http://www.misterart.com/g477/Caran-D-ache-Neocolor-II-Aquarelle-Water-Soluble-Wax-Pastel-Sets.htm They look very much like pastel. They produce a somewhat “harder” line, and they don’t dust at all. And since they’re water soluble, you can wet them and get effects similar to water color (though I’m not doing that in this drawing).
I like these crayons a lot and use them almost exclusively, but traditional pastels have their own unique virtues too of course.
So glad you like the drawing. And I’m still working on it. (It’s a really large drawing, over 50 inches square.) Still fishing ….
Aletha
Yep, I’m number 4. I really like this piece. I like how the edges fade to gray. Nice painting, Aletha.
This theme of yours might work well if you could find a stream with trout that you could see down through the water. I bet you would make a great painting of that.
I need to find a trout stream! (Just don’t tell the koi!) AK
Mmmhmmmm…I see I am late to the posting party, but I love this!
I forgot about this post. Glad you like it! I’m glad you found it — got to laugh about it again!
I posted the Ann Landers quote at my FB page and it got a lot of laughs!
Your fish grouping is lovely. I found it, and your site, through a Google search for abstract fish art.
I’m so glad your contacts enjoyed it. Ann Landers is the best! Thank you for letting me know that the joke is traveling around again …!
