Thought it would be fun to do something different for my “day off.” I have been assiduously painting flowers lately and I want a change of pace. So for fun I have decided to do some faces. For the lack of a model, I turn to Victorian photographer Julia Margaret Cameron. However, I hope to make her image distinctly my own.
These are the first indications. The paint is wet and it’s easy to moosh things around. Often I draw things even in paint and the approach, at least, is very linear. For this painting I let myself push paint around for a more fluid engagement with the shapes.
I like to paint in different ways, to try out different subjects, sizes, approaches, media, whatnot. I have a restless spirit sometimes.
