Got a chance to take a picture of my latest painting on exhibit. It’s the long format landscape on the bottom right. It’s now on view at the Torpedo Factory in Old Town Alexandria, Virginia. Here’s another view:

Gorgeous painting Aletha
Looking good – so energetic! Did they really used to make torpedos in this place?
thank you, Emma — and yes indeed they did make torpedoes there beginning in 1918 and continuing until 1923 and then resuming again during World War II. They manufactured nearly 10,000 torpedoes before closing the facility in 1946. Then the building lay empty until the mid-1970s when it was converted into an arts center.
It’s now the region’s largest arts center housing 82 artists’ studios, a couple galleries, classrooms, a printmaking department.
thank you, Margaret!
You’ve brightened up the whole wall 😍
Wow – a place of death (a necessary evil, some might say in wartime) reborn as a place of life and creativity.
